5 major Drawbacks of Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

Google launched it’s hardware products at the Made By Google Event earlier this month. The event featured the launch of its second-generation smartphone Pixel 2 and Pixel XL. While the Pixel 2 includes many features which stand out from its competitor phones such as iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus, it still got few features which certainly makes you reconsider your decision in buying the phone.

Here are the five drawbacks of Pixel 2 and Pixel XL. Take a look at them.

  1. 1. Big Bezels

  2. 2. Same Camera, Different Prices

  3. 3. No headphone jack

  4. 4. No included headphones

  5. 5. No wireless charging

1. Big Bezels

The Pixel 2 XL has a bigger screen and it is not quite as impressive from a design point of view when compared with Apple’s iPhone X, Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Note 8. Although all of these smartphones have large OLED displays, the Pixel 2 XL has got big bezels on top, bottom, and sides of the device. On the other hand, the remaining handsets have a sleek and gorgeous edge-to-edge display. You can opt for Pixel 2 if bigger bezels don’t matter much to you.

2. Same Camera, Different Prices

Both the $649 Pixel 2 and $849 Pixel 2 XL sport the same exact camera, software and even all the hardware benefits it provides. But you should notice that there is a huge difference of $200 between the devices. The company claims that the Pixel 2 XL has a larger screen and a bigger battery when compared to Pixel2. On the other hand, Apple differentiates the price by including the dual-camera setup for its larger iPhone Plus line and charges only $100 extra for iPhone 8 plus when compared with iPhone 8.

3. No headphone jack

Google mocked Apple on its hardware event launch several times. But the company decided to remove the headphone jack just like Apple. Yes, both the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack. Even after knowing the response of people about the inconvenience faced by them without a headphone jack on iPhone 7, Google didn’t want to place a headphone jack.

4. No included headphones

After removing the 3.5mm headphone jack Google decided to charge for headphones. Yes, headphones are not included with shipping of Pixel 2. So, you’ll need to buy a dongle or a new USB-C headphone after ditching the on-device auxiliary ports. Instead, you can opt for a $159 Pixel Buds. Although Apple removed the 3.5mm jack from iPhone 7, it included a basic pair of lightning headphones with the shipping of iPhone 7.

5. No wireless charging

With many smartphones such as iPhone 8, Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 moving towards the wireless charging technology, Google did not experiment with adding this feature in Pixel 2. Although Google decided to ditch the headphone jack, the company didn’t include wireless charging feature like Apple. It should have included wireless charging feature in order to top the chart of best smartphones list.

Apart from the above features the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have very interesting features and you can opt for these phones if the above-mentioned faults don’t bother you.

Google announced Pixel Book, Clips, DayDream, Pixel Buds, Home Mini and Home Max apart from the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones which will be available at $649 and $849, respectively, and will be launched in Australia, Canada, Germany, India, the UK, and the US in the first wave of release.
